As our funding environment shifts, building capacity around grant development is essential for sustaining and expanding programs. This session empowers out-of-school time professionals to confidently navigate the changing landscape, strengthening their ability to identify and secure grants that support transformational after-school experiences. Participants will explore ways to discover new funding sources, gain insights into the grant lifecycle, and apply proven best practices for crafting compelling and successful proposals.

Learning Outcomes:

• Participants will be able to identify and effectively utilize various resources and tools to research potential funding opportunities aligned with their program goals.
• Participants will learn how to evaluate grant opportunities for eligibility and suitability, enabling informed decisions about pursuing specific funding sources.
• Participants will acquire foundational skills to develop initial components of a strong grant proposal, including understanding proposal structure and building organizational capacity for successful grant development.

Presenter

Gabriela B. Delgado, M.A., M.P.A, GPC (she/her/hers) Director, Student Services and Programs, San Diego County Office of Education, San Diego, CA Gabriela B. Delgado has served in education for 25 years. She has served youth, families, school staff, and community organizations in various capacities, including designing and implementing youth programs, promoting student and family engagement, ensuring school safety and crisis response, developing strategic plans, aligning and coordinating initiatives, and managing grant development and administration. Throughout her career, Gabriela has secured more than $300 million in funding. Gabriela holds a Master of Arts in Education with a focus on Counseling and Guidance from Point Loma Nazarene University and a Master of Public Administration from San Diego State University.
